Family camp is the next stop on the summer itinerary. Every single one of us can't wait. For me it means no cooking, cleaning, or organizing. Everything is planned for me – a huge break. Rappelling, zip-lining, night ultimate frisbee, and paddle boarding are all on the agenda. But beyond that, family camp is a time where we center ourselves spiritually before the school year crazy begins. We listen to solid teaching, read the Bible, sing camp songs, have meaningful discussions, and assess where we want to go in the year to come. This is one big way we encourage spiritual growth in our kids over the summer.
Another quick way is we write verses pertaining to a certain subject and write them on pieces of paper. The kids then work on memorizing “their” verse and hang them up on the refrigerator (the one shown is of an RV refrigerator from a trip we took this summer). When an issue in that arena comes up, we can point to those verses as a starting place for growth and discussion.
HOW ABOUT YOU? WHAT DO YOU DO TO PROMOTE SPIRITUAL GROWTH IN YOURSELF OR YOUR CHILD OVER THE SUMMER?
